MASS is a 180-meter gigayacht concept that explores an aggressive, stealth-inspired explorer aesthetic. The project was heavily inspired by my time in Northern Germany, where I completed a professional internship specializing in 3D scanning and reverse engineering within the naval industry. Working on-site at major shipyards provided a direct, technical perspective on the sheer scale and complexity of mega-yacht construction. MASS serves as a conceptual "v0.1" trial—an initial study in extreme volume and monochromatic surfacing that establishes the groundwork for a future, more realistic maritime evolution.
The design language of MASS is defined by structural honesty and the precision I observed while working with high-end maritime engineering teams. The concept features a high-performance wave-piercing hull designed to maintain a sleek, low-profile stance despite its massive 180-meter length.
Aesthetic Direction: A monochromatic palette was utilized to emphasize the interplay of light and shadow across the stealth-inspired facets of the superstructure.
Engineering Insights: The project incorporates early-stage details influenced by my exposure to shipyard workflows, including vertical windlass systems and recessed anchor pockets.
Scale Calibration: This trial allowed for the testing of human-scale ergonomics against massive exterior volumes, ensuring the design remained grounded in the reality of large-scale naval architecture.
As a preliminary design study, MASS provided the necessary environment to master complex surfacing and large-scale assembly management within Fusion 360. While the project was born out of a desire to translate my professional internship experiences into a personal design language, it remains a "work-in-progress".
The next phase of the MASS project will focus on a "Realistic Overhaul," moving beyond the pure aesthetic study to incorporate technical wireframes, validated general arrangements, and deeper engineering feasibility. The goal is to bridge the gap between a conceptual silhouette and a professional-grade maritime design study.
